Professor Marc Vendrell

Marc Vendrell is Professor of Translational Chemistry and Biomedical Imaging at the University of Edinburgh. He has a strong track record in the development of optical probes with multiple publications and >£6M funding as PI (>£20M as co-I) from competitive sources, including an ERC Consolidator Grant in 2017 and several translational awards with industry. He is co-inventor of >10 patents (6 licensed) and some probes developed in his lab have been licensed to industry to be commercialised worldwide (e.g., Trp-BODIPY by MilliporeSigma, ApoTrackersTM by BioLegend, SCOTfluors by TOCRIS). His research has been recognised with international distinctions and awards, the latest being elected Fellow of the RSC (2017), the Marcial Moreno Lectureship (2018), the SRUK Emerging Talent Award (2019) and the UoE Principal’s Medal Award (2020).
